Launching a wide bid around the final turn, Big Lis rallied through the center of the course to catch pacesetter and 7-5 favourite War Filly on the line in the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs Saturday, March 10, winning by a neck in 1:56.2.

Big Lis was positioned seventh, eight lengths off War Filly on the front, through a :28.1 opening quarter. On The Minute Mark, parked from the quarter, advanced to challenge the leader passing the half, timed in :58.1, and remained at her side entering the backstretch.

Driver Colin Kelly tipped Big Lis off the rail through a 1:26.3 third-quarter and quickly moved three wide entering the final turn. Last at the top of the stretch, Big Lis charged by rivals as War Filly clung to the lead over On The Minute Mark and Katies Beach in the passing lane. The five-year-old Big Jim mare caught the favourite on the line, with On The Minute Mark holding third from Katies Beach.

Owned by Steve Mihalic, Big Lis, trained by Craig Gilmour, won her 11th race in 43 starts, earning $63,003. She paid $13.60 to win.
