For the second time in the past week, there will be a Pick 5 carryover at The Meadowlands thanks to a tough sequence on Friday where the post time favourite was defeated in all five legs; $38,069 will be added to the pool tomorrow that covers races one through five.
A win by 32-1 longshot Better Call Saul in race two helped the carryover. When Mr Julian, the 2-1 morning line favourite but off at 4-1, won race five, the carryover was clinched.
A $25,497 into last Friday's card attracted $170,414 in new money. A relatively straightforward sequence returned $762.10 thanks to the large pool and nearly zero per cent takeout.
With an even larger carryover and a Saturday night card, it can reasonably be expected that the new money should surpass $200,000, which would create a negative takeout scenario, an extremely rare wagering opportunity for horseplayers.
The 50-cent base wager begins with the opening race. Forty-three horses are entered prior to scratches in the sequence.
Post time is 7:15 p.m.
