It has been reported that Scarborough Downs is facing a lawsuit from Suffolk Downs, which is claiming that Scarborough has not paid nearly $180,000 in simulcasting fees.
An article on the situation by the Portland Press Herald explains that Suffolk filed the lawsuit on Monday (March 9).
The report has quoted Scarborough’s attorney, Edward MacColl, as saying that Scarborough owes Suffolk money, but that his client is disputing the amount that is owed.
Suffolk’s lawyer – Jonathan Goldberg, of law firm Mittel Asen – has been quoted as saying that the lawsuit is “a simple breach of contract action” and that “if we can negotiate a solution, we will, but if not, we will continue through the court.”
