After finishing her sophomore season last August in the Miss New Jersey, pacing mare JK Letitgo has acclimated to the older pacing ranks, starting her four-year-old campaign by racking up five straight wins.
On Monday, JK Letitgo won her fifth race in-a-row, stepping up the ranks to win her first appearance in the $20,000 Mares Open/Handicap at Dover Downs.
JK Letitgo returned to the races on Feb. 3 and has been perfect since. The youngest in this week’s top female pace, the $20,000 Open/Handicap, the four-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-JK Getoutofmyway, driven by Jonathan Roberts, closed between horses in deep stretch to remain unbeaten after five races this year. Coookin The Books (Allan Davis) and race favorite Jeremes Sweetheart (Ron Pierce) slugged it out early and when a collage of females roared down the lane, JK Letitgo emerged with the victory.
Gottaseeaboutagirl (Corey Callahan) closed boldly to finish second in front of Jeremes Sweetheart, third. Josh Parker trains and co-owns the winner with Kevin Evans, Bud Spedden and Nanticoke Racing. JK Letitgo has now won $35,000 in her five 2014 starts.
Nanticoke Racing also shared ownership with Ed Maas and Arlene Paisley in Mach Lady who undoubtedly is currently the winningest claiming mare pacer posting a 1:53.2 triumph in a Delaware $10,000 Mares Claiming Allowance. The Mach Three-Tampa Town six-year-old trained by Les Givens saw a long win streak ended in her previous start finishing third. The victory is her sixth in her last seven outings.
Trainer Joe Hundertpfund had a big night conditioning four winners from his stable. Hundertpfund started five horses on the card, and won with All About Boyz (George Dennis), in the 3rd; JJscollegefund (Ron Pierce) in the 6th; Casimir Lawman in the 11th and JK Cheerleader in the 12th, both driven by Ross Wolfenden. Only Putnams Kream did not win, but finished third in the 3rd race.
Meet leading driver Corey Callahan advanced to 197 wins this meet piloting three winners, with owner Nanticoke Racing also scoring a triple. Ron Pierce, Wolfenden and Ben Stafford Jr. and trainers Ben Stafford and Les Givens had two trips to the winner’s circle each.
