The Monday morning (March 1) qualifying session at Woodbine Mohawk Park featured five events under overcast skies and over a surface rated “good”.

Menlo Park opened the Monday session off a pocket-popping score in 2:00.2 on the pace. Louis-Philippe Roy drove the four-year-old Betterthancheddar gelding for trainer Jean Tourigny.

In the following race, Aussie Lover went the fastest trotting mile on the morning with a 2:01.2 effort going gate to wire for driver Stephen Byron and owner-trainer Gino Cicero. The four-year-old Angus Hall gelding took the lead to a :30.4 opening quarter and held a loose lead through middle splits of 1:00.3 and 1:30.3 before capping the mile with another :30.4 quarter. The Wheel finished second, four-and-a-quarter lengths behind, with pocket-sitter Vinyasa finishing third.

Sunny Bo went the fastest mile on the pace in the final event on the morning, firing off the pylons to a 1:56.4 win by two lengths for driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Gregg McNair. The five-year-old Sunshine Beach gelding sat third while UF Bettors Hanover set fractions of :28.4, :57.4 and 1:27.2 until Snap Test popped pocket and Sunny Bo readied a blast by the dueling pair. Sunny Bo hit the finish, off a :28.4 final quarter, two lengths better than Snap Test while UF Bettors Hanover faltered to third.
