Oaklea Wyatt returned to action following a bit of down time, and the freshness factor worked in his favour as noted in his come-from-behind score in Thursday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.
In rein to owner/trainer/driver Daniel Potvin, Oaklea Wyatt got away seventh in the eight-horse affair while Fluff Me Up shot to the top and sliced out fractions of :29.1, 1:00.4 and 1:31.1. Potvin swung three-wide on the way to the three-quarter pole with Oaklea Wyatt, and the trotter used a :30.4 closing quarter to sweep to the lead and win by a half-length margin over April Rose in 2:02.3. Pollar Hall was a lapped-on third.
The seven-year-old son of Amigo Hall-Oaklea Lark won for the first time this season and for the 19th time in his career. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his lifetime earnings to $119,910.
