Claiming stalwart Regil Tiger may not find his way into the headlines very often, but after notching his 60th lifetime win he’s more than worthy of a little ink.
The 12-year-old son of Mach Three-Top Time Notcher rolled to an impressive victory in Thursday’s $8,000-$10,000 claiming handicap for pacers at Woodbine Racetrack, and he was forced to work hard for the money.
With Louis Philippe Roy in the bike, Regil Tiger blasted to the lead from Post 9 and successfully whacked out panels of :26, :55.2 and 1:25.4 before using a :28.2 final frame to win by a length over Think Again in 1:54.1. Lisvinnie also went a tough trip to finish third.
The gelding, who raced for trainer Richard Moreau (Ecurie Richard Moreau Inc) and partners Michel Gaudreault and Justin Robson, improved this year’s record to 5-1-2 from just eight starts with the win. The next milestone he’ll be looking to surpass is the $500,000 plateau in earnings. He currently sits with a tidy sum of $472,255 - a number he’s earned the hard way.
