Auciello Trainees Close WEG Card

It was a perfect ending to Friday night's harness racing card at Woodbine Racetrack for trainer Carmen Auciello as his pacing mares swept the late Daily Double.

The only trainer to repeat on the 11-race card, Auciello won the final two races with Shes A Maniac ($9.60) and Bee Fullof Steinam ($21). The pair combined for a late Daily Double payout of $183.10.

Jody Jamieson, a three-time winning driving on the program, steered Shes A Maniac to a career-best equalling 1:52.4 triumph -- the fastest of the night. The win was her fourth in nine starts since being claimed for $10,000 last Boxing Day by Stephen Klunowski of North York, Ont.

With Paul MacDonell aboard, Bee Fullof Steinam unleashed a :26.3 final panel to close from the backfield and steal the spotlight by a head in the finale. With the photo finish camera malfunctioning, it was up to the ORC judges to make the close call and they determined that Bee Fullof Steinam was the 1:54.1 winner over Greystone Ladylike. The Life Sign mare earned her first win in seven starts this year for owner Icr Racing of Pefferlaw, Ont.

Auciello has sent out the most starters during Woodbine's 2014 racing season to earn 16 victories and now sits just two behind win leader Corey Johnson.
