It has been reported that William Rickman, owner of Ocean Downs, is supporting a bill which would allow Ocean Downs and Rosecroft Raceway to continue to offset their operating costs with funds from Maryland casinos beyond 2012
.
According to a report by The Baltimore Sun, the legislation is scheduled to be considered in a Senate committee Wednesday, March 7.
The article has quoted Rickman as saying that it is "unrealistic for them (the Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners' Association) to think that I can continue taking multimillion dollars in losses every year in order to give them a place to race."
