Northern Express rolled in the Select Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night (Feb. 9).
Driver Russell Foster left aggressively with Northern Express. Foster forced tucks by Gillie the Kid and Morairtime into the first turn. This allowed Northern Express to set fractions of :28 to the quarter :57.4 to the half.
Jack Parker Jr. wheeled Morairtime off the pylons past the half and trotted coverless in pursuit of the pacesetter Northern Express up the backstretch. Gillie The Kid followed second over and mounted a three-wide brush nearing the three-quarter pole. Northern Express maintained the lead at the three quarters in 1:25.3 and continued to a convincing victory by one-and-a-quarter lengths in 1:54.2.
Northern Express is owned and trained by Arty Foster Jr. His son, Russell Foster, was in the bike. He paid $4.00 to win.
Morairtime, trained by Carol Jamieson-Parker, raced first over and picked up the place spot. Bluebird Jesse finished third for trainer Jim King Jr. and driver Tim Tetrick.
Tim Tetrick won four races on the betting card.
On Thursday night (Feb. 11), Dover Downs will offer a $5,000 guaranteed Pick 5 wager with a 50-cent minimum bet. The takeout is 15 percent.
Racing resumes on Wednesday (Feb. 10) at Dover Downs with a 4:30 p.m. (EST) first-race post time.
