A jump up in class didn’t seem to bother Most Wanted Lindy as he won the $11,000 featured Open Trot at Buffalo Raceway Friday night (February 8).
The win was the third in five attempts this season for Most Wanted Lindy, a six-year-old Cantab Hall gelding owned by Scott West of Vernon, New York and Katie Currie of Surrey, B.C.
Dismissed by the bettors at 10-1, Most Wanted Lindy ($22.20) and reinsman Billy Dobson settled in fifth as eventual third-place finisher Perfect Man (Dave McNeight III) hit the quarter-pole in :30.2. Second-place finisher Hailstorm Volo (Jack Flanigen) retook the lead just past the quarter and cut the fractions to the half in 1:01.4 and three-quarters in 1:32.3. A heated battle occurred in the stretch, which saw Most Wanted Lindy prevail by three-quarters of a length in 2:03 at the finish line.
Trained by West, the $5,500 share of the winning purse put Most Wanted Lindy’s seasons earning at $15,012 and lifetime bankroll at $100,774 lifetime. The win was his 12th in 75 lifetime starts.
