Escaping from Northfield Park, one fleet-footed Standardbred decided to take a Sunday afternoon stroll in advance of his Monday race.
According to a report on Fox 8 Cleveland News, six-year-old pacing gelding Quik Groom escaped the grounds following a training session on Sunday around 3 p.m. and headed down the nearby road, Route 8, in Northfield, Ohio.
The report states that the Brian Loney trainee was quickly corralled less than half a mile away near the Northfield Post Office by local police without injuries.
Quik Groom is an 18-time career winner and is entered to race on Monday night in Northfield Park's fifth race for $4,000 claimers.
