BetShare On Some Of Its Influences

Ryerson’s independent student newspaper, ‘The Eyeopener,’ has profiled BetShare, which was last month deemed the winner of ‘Horse Racing 3.0,’ presented by the Woodbine Entertainment Group. The piece explains that one of the key concepts behind the BetShare handicapping platform came from a team member’s experience in the financial industry.

As the article explains, BetShare team member Pedro Pessoa, has said that he tapped into a past experience from the financial industry to come up with an idea that is key to BetShare.

BetShare is a next generation handicapping platform that allows customers to follow experienced players through video streaming, explanation and supporting betting statistics (e.g. strike rate, return on investment, hot streak, etc.).

According to the article, Pessoa remembered that investors stream business deals online, and that some platforms stream people playing video games. In terms of the video game platforms, some of the people that stream their play attract subscribers, which then turns a profit.

While helping his team craft BetShare, Pessoa remembered some particular instances while he was an employee of the Bank of Montreal. Pessoa bought mutual funds during his time at the bank. “I didn’t know what my financial service manager was saying half the time,” Pessoa was quoted as saying.

He went on to state, “I would just think to myself, ‘Geez if I could see exactly what’s on her screen as she explains this to me, then at least I could visualize it.’”

The ability for the individuals to visually teach and explain what they are doing via a streaming/subscription platform is one of the core concepts behind BetShare.
