A chilly Saturday night played host to a ten-race card at Flamboro Downs, rounding out the night with Consumer Rate clinching a 1:59.2 victory in the Preferred 3.

The Malabar Maple gelding left swiftly off the gate in a :28.2 clip, posting fractions of 59.1 and 1:29 before striding to the wire in a photo finish. Consumer Rate held out by a nose over Elmo Rockbottom (Scott Young) and Initial Strike (Scott Coulter) who rounded out the top three.

Consumer Rate is trained and owned by Mike Rivest of Lynden, Ontario, as well as Gary Silliphant of Simcoe and Denis Rivest of Palgrave.

The night was also successful for Paul MacKenzie who scored three wins on the card. MacKenzie drove wire to wire in the fifth race with James and Morgan, holding clear by three lengths in a mile of 2:00.1 for George Graham. He employed the same tactic in the ninth with Twin B Roxy in 1:58.4 for Ken Oliver and ICR Racing.
