With deadlines for stakes payments quickly approaching, Standardbred Canada has assembled the Stakes Payment News Centre, which offers a consolidation of all reminders that have been released

WEG STAKES NOMINATIONS REMINDER

The Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to remind all owners, horsemen and women that stakes nominations for its major stakes events close February, 17, 2009. Also, sustaining payments are due for the 2009 Simcoe, Simcoe Filly and SBOA stakes events for three-year-olds.

Envelopes must be clearly post-marked no later than the said due date or payment will not be accepted. Registered mail is recommended.

RIDEAU CARLETON RACEWAY PAYMENTS DUE FEBRUARY 17/09

Rideau Carleton Raceway would like to remind all horsepeople that nominations for the 2009 Frank Ryan Memorial Trot and The Des Smith Classic Pace close on February 17, 2009. The nomination fee for both events is $1,000. Any stake nominations post-marked on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 will be accepted.

FEBRUARY 17 WESTERN FAIR NOMINATION DEADLINES

February 17 is the nomination deadline for a pair of Western Fair Raceway’s marquee events.

The nomination fee is $1,000 for the Molson Pace. Eliminations will be held on May 22 with the final set for May 29. Last year, the Molson Pace went to the gate for $280,000, the highest purse single race in Western Fair’s 47-year history.

New for 2009 is the Fillies and Mares Open Pace, to be known as the Forest City Pace. The nomination fee is set at $750 for the inaugural edition. Eliminations will be held on October 10 with the $150,000 (added) final set for October 17.

OSS 3YO & TRILLIUM PAYMENTS DUE

The Ontario Sires Stakes Administration would like to remind everyone that February 15 is the deadline for three-year-old OSS and Trillium payments. However, since the February 15 falls on a Sunday and Monday, February 16 is a holiday, payments postmarked by Tuesday, February 17 will be accepted.

Payments can also be made in person at the ORC office at 10 Carlson Court, Suite 14, Toronto, ON up until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17.

The $400 OSS sustaining fee for two-year-olds is not due until March 15 and reminder notices will be mailed early next week.

BOULEVARD CASINO CUP PAYMENTS DUE

Owners and trainers should be advised that nominations to the Boulevard Casino Cup for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings (which are non-winners of $25,000 at time of nomination) is Monday, February 16, 2009.

DELAWARE, OHIO GRAND CIRCUIT SUSTAINING PAYMENTS DUE FEBRUARY 17

Just a friendly reminder that since February 15 is a Sunday, and Monday, February 16 is a federal holiday with no mail delivery, sustaining payments for many of the 2009 Delaware, OH Grand Circuit stakes must be postmarked by Tuesday, February 17. These are for foals of 2006.

The Little Brown Jug No. 64 -- $750
Jugette No. 39 -- $500
Old Oaken Bucket -- $500
Buckette -- $400

The 2009 Delaware Grand Circuit opens the afternoon of Sunday, September 20 and concludes Thursday, September 24 with the racing of the $700,000 (estimated) Little Brown Jug.

A nomination fee of $300 also is due February 17 for the $110,000 (estimated) Winbak Farm Pace for four-year-olds and up.

ADIOS, ADIOO VOLO THREE-YEAR-OLD PAYMENTS DUE

The Meadows wishes to remind horse owners and staking services that payments for three-year-olds to sustain eligibility for the 2009 Delvin Miller Adios and the Quinton Patterson Adioo Volo must be postmarked by Tuesday, February 17.

Payments are $600 for The Adios, $300 for the Adioo Volo.

This year’s Adios will offer an estimated $820,000 total purse with eliminations contested on Friday, July 24 and the final on Saturday August 1.

GRAND RIVER NOMINATION DEADLINES

February 17 is the nomination deadline for Grand River Raceway’s signature race, the Battle Of Waterloo, and the new companion race, the Battle Of The Belles.

BATTLE OF WATERLOO: For 2-year-old ON-sired pacing colts or fillies. $300 nomination due Feb. 17. Sustaining payments of $300 due in March and April. Eliminations to be contested July 27. $300,000 Final to be contested on August 3.

CHARLES I. SMITH TROTTING CLASSIC DEADLINE - FEBRUARY 17

The second sustaining payment for the Charles I. Smith Trotting Classic, sponsored by the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey, is due on Tuesday, February 17.

The fee of $200 should be post marked or hand delivered by February 17, 2009 to the SBOANJ Office at 64 Business Route 33, Manalapan, NJ 07726.

The $100,000 estimated Charles Smith for three-year-old trotters is on September 11, 2009 at Freehold Raceway with elimination races on September 4. The filly companion event, the $85,000 estimated Helen Smith is on August 21 with elims on August 14, also at Freehold.
