Eye Of An Eagle flew from sixth to first in the final quarter-mile to win the $11,000 featured optional-claiming trot at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Starting from post six, Ed Hensley dropped the gelding back to the caboose early as Seeking Salvation (John Thomson) went the opposite way to the front. Seeking Salvation reached the quarter in :29.2 and was joined by No One (Austin Sorrie) first-up to the half in 1:00.4, with Summer Young (Tyler Jones) and Eye Of An Eagle lining up second- and third-over, respectively, on the rim.

Eye of An Eagle remained last on the outside in a three in, three out formation at three-quarters in 1:29.4 but kicked three-high to advance on the final turn. The five-year-old swooped around rivals and gave Hensley little work to do as he glided to the front down the lane to win by a length in 1:59.3. Seeking Salvation finished second over Wheelin N Stealin (George Ketros).

Eye Of An Eagle improved to two-for-four on the year with the win, his 12th lifetime in 58 appearances. Ashleigh Hensley trains him and shares ownership with Ed Hensley of Dundas, Ont. The homebred son of Archangel-Escuela has earned $81,705. He paid $8 to win.
