Driver Jody Jamieson and Will Take Charge showed no mercy to the competition as noted by the blowout score in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack.
Fresh off a 1:53.4 victory in the Preferred class on January 29, Will Take Charge sat a two-hole trip to the quarter pole before making a big move to the front in Monday’s main event. B Yoyo had the field chasing him at the quarter in :27.4, but Jamieson asked his charge to sweep by that foe as the group travelled into the backstretch.
Will Take Charge did just that, and he proceeded to slice out middle splits of :57.1 and 1:25.3. He rocketed home in :27.3 to win by 3-1/2 lengths over B Yoyo in 1:53.1. Taking home the show dough was Il Sogno Dream.
Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ont. owns the five-year-old altered son of Kadabra-Celebrity Angel. The Jeff Gillis pupil pushed his lifetime earnings over $600,000 with the win.
