All Canadian Mjjz tracked down pacesetter Neil Diamonique to prevail in his first start of the year during Saturday afternoon’s $10,000 Open Pace at Northlands Park

All Canadian Mjjz and driver Jeff Stone moved underway from the backfield past the :29.1 opening quarter, which was posted by Neal Diamonique (Lance Ward). The 8-1 sixth choice advanced to the lead past the half-mile marker in 1:01.2 and raced to three-quarters in 1:30.3 with favourite River Lass (Kelly Hoerdt) out from third and applying pressure. All Canadian Mjjz held off a quick-closing Flak Jacket (Jamie Gray) on the far outside by half a length for the 2:00 victory over an off track. River Lass finished three-quarters of a length back in third.
All Canadian Mjjz returned $19.20 to win. The four-year-old Allamerican Native-Sliced Thin gelding notched his eighth career win and pushed his earnings over the $60,000 mark for trainer Rodney Starkewski, who co-owns with Larry Thomas of Edmonton, Alta.
