An article today by the Wasaga Sun tells the story of well-know Self Possessed gelding Armbro Chronicle, who was up for an O'Brien Award in the older trotting horse category.
The seven-year-old has made racing fans well aware of his grit and determination on the track, but the Wasaga Sun sheds light on a story that some may not know.
At six weeks of age, Armbro Chronicle was kicked in the head and eventually lost his left eye. He had one descended testicle before being gelded and looks like he had the deck stacked against him.
"No one wanted him," co-owner Cal Patterson told reporters at the O'Brien Awards black tie gala last weekend. Now with over $989,000 in career earnings, it's safe to say that the connections were better off in keeping him.
