Walden Woods Upsets In Rosecroft Monday Feature

Taking advantage of a pocket trip behind a hot pace, Walden Woods rolled to a 9-1 upset in the featured $14,493 Winners Over Pace on Monday, Feb. 3 at Rosecroft Raceway.

Justin Walters secured the pocket with Walden Woods and stalked Dontmesswithles (Roger Plante Jr.) through blistering fractions of :25.3, :54.2 and 1:21.4 before angling out of the pocket just before the eighth pole. The seven-year-old Betting Line-Artomatic Love gelding responded at first asking, sprinting clear of Dontmesswithles to win by a widening 1-3/4 lengths and tying his lifetime mark of 1:51. Coligny Hanover (Eric Davis) rallied up the pegs from off the pace to finish third, another 4-1/2 lengths behind.

Samuel Young owns and trains Walden Woods, who is two-for-two at Rosecroft to start his 2025 campaign and a 28-time career winner. Walden Woods paid $20 for the upset win.

Russell Foster led all drivers with three wins on the 14-race card.

Live harness racing returns to Rosecroft on Wednesday, Feb. 5 with a 13-race program and a $394.09 carryover in the Jackpot Hi-5 (race 10). First post is 7:15 p.m.
