Pacing mare Mystra turned a two-hole trip into a narrow victory in Monday’s featured $23,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap at Dover Downs, and in doing so she extended her winning streak to three-in-a-row.

Tim Tetrick got away second with Mystra who stalked the pacesetting Jeremes Sweetheart through fractions of :27.1, :57.1 and 1:25.2. Tetrick summoned up :27.2 closing speed from his charge, and that was good enough for the Trish Foulk trainee to prevail by half a length over even-money favourite Alexachase. Jeremes Sweetheart faded to finish third.

Sent off at odds of 7-2, Mystra won for the 36th time in her career while pushing her lifetime earnings to $491,231 in the process. Mystra is owned by Foulk Stables Inc of Dover, DE.
