Trainer Patrick Shepherd started his Thursday just two wins shy of a major milestone, and thanks to wins at a pair of tracks he managed to celebrate the 1,000th victory of his career.
Shepherd sent out six starters in total – three at Flamboro Downs and three at Woodbine Mohawk Park – and a pair of seventh race sweeps earned him the milestone triumph.
Tell Em Hanover took down top honours in Race 7 at Flamboro Downs for Shepherd and driver Austin Sorrie, and then he joined forces with teamster Doug McNair to capture Race 7 at Woodbine Mohawk Park with claiming pacer Real Wicked.
The young conditioner enjoyed a career year in 2018 when it came to winning races thanks to his 208 trips to victory lane, and in 2019 he set a personal best for earnings in a single season when his barn banked $1,241,287.
