Two-time Saratoga Casino Hotel training champion Jackie Greene enjoyed her share of the spotlight on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 26), taking a co-featured $9,000 event for New York-sired trotters with Deplorable Tom.
After being acquired by the Kellogg Racing Stables this winter and logging a few unsuccessful starts at The Meadowlands, the four-year-old son of Credit Winner made his local debut for Greene a winning one. Driver Shawn Gray sent Deplorable Tom to the early lead, and they turned aside a mild threat from favourite Thanks For Leaving before holding off pocket foe Southwind Tinker to score in 1:59.1.
Brads Buddy gave the Kellogg Racing Stables, Greene and Gray a double on the afternoon with a career best 1:54.3 performance in an $8,000 conditioned pace. The four-year-old son of Heston Blue Chip worked hard in the early going to overcome post 7, but after getting through the opening quarter in :27.1, didn’t face a significant challenge en route to a new career mark.
Live racing continues on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 27) with a matinee beginning at noon.
