Foiled Again was on hand at the Dan Patch Awards at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort to receive the 2018 Stan Bergstein Proximity Award, as voted on by the members of the United States Harness Writers Association.

Foiled Again, flanked by Devan Miller and Mickey Burke, steals the show in accepting his Stan Bergstein Proximity Award.

"I don't think I can top that," said co-owner Joe Koury after the earner of over $7.6 million in purses entered the banquet hall to accept his award to the cheers of hundreds in attendance.

"People ask all the time if there will be another Foiled Again," Koury continued. "I hope so. That will mean our industry is strong and that we've got a long way to go as far as what this industry can do."

The now 15-year-old son of Dragon Again posed for photos with trainer Ron Burke, driver Yannick Gingras and legions of admirers in the early stages of the banquet.

Such a classy move by the group for such an admired and classy animal.

We can hope for another like him but can't see it happening in a very long time. To race at such a consistent level for so long and to avoid injuries is amazing in a track sport. It is rare for a average or decent horse to go a career without injuries, all the way to 15.

Humans who can tell you every ache and pain and trainers can be right on top of that injury before it manifests. Horses can't, so many can't last without injury as a minor problem often turns into setbacks. The trainer can tell by differences on the track in training or racing but it has to be after something has injured, as the horse can't say, i'm really hurting or exhausted today so let me have the day off.

Foiled Again had it all, consistency, heart, speed, class and toughness like no other, and he made his money the hard way racing open ranks as he didn't break out until after the lucrative stakes years were at an end.

I look forward to seeing what other promos they do with him in the upcoming years

This was the most wonderful thing to ever happen at a human or equine award show in my opinion! THANKS "Burke Brigade" for sharing your treasure with everyone.

This is a great thing and typical of the Burkes but I have a hazy recollection of this happening some years ago at a Canadian awards show. Not sure but I think the horse was Run The Table?
