A three-wide push up the far side propelled Howmacfiesty ($11.70) from second-over position to a 4-3/4 length triumph in Saturday’s (Feb. 24) featured $8,500 Preferred 3 for distaff pacers at Flamboro Downs.
The five-year-old Carnivore mare emerged from mid-division well after War Filly (Denis St. Pierre) established herself as the pacesetter, sliding second-over to follow Regal Luck (Paul MacKenzie) into a :57.2 half mile. After following live cover into the second circuit, J Harris angled Howmacfiesty three-wide up the backstretch, and she vaulted past War Filly at first asking. A :29.4 final quarter capped Howmacfiesty’s 1:56.2 victory, while War Filly held second over pocket rival Drivingthedragon N (Robert Shepherd).
Jack Harris owns and trains Howmacfiesty, who earned her 18th career win following two third-place efforts with Preferred 2 company. For driver J Harris, the win was one of four on the 11-race card.
