Rideau Preferred To One More Drink

It’s been a long time between drinks – or in this case, wins – for pacer One More Drink who eked out a narrow victory in Thursday’s $14,000 Preferred

at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

One More Drink, who hasn’t been to victory lane since December 11, 2010, clicked for the win after enjoying a ground-saving trip for driver Guy Gagnon.

The Richard Moreau pupil tracked the tempo setter, Best Show In Town, through panels of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:25.1 before finding open road and using a :29.2 final frame to prevail over Best Show In Town in a time of 1:54.4. My Old Friend John rode cover and was right there to be a lapped-on third.

Keith and Christopher Cassell of Smiths Falls, ON share ownership on the five-year-old son of Western Terror-Hawaiian Beachlady, who won for the first time in four starts this season and for the 13th time in his career. The $7,000 payday bumped his lifetime earnings to $228,115.
