Slots For Innisfil, Not For Georgian?

According to Innisfil Mayor Barb Baguley, there will still be slot machines running in Innisfil after March 31. Whether they will be housed at Georgian Downs is less clear.

At a town council meeting on Wednesday night, Baguley informed Council that the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corp. has offered assurances that there will continue to be a slots location while OLG negotiates with Great Canadian Gaming.

"In the meantime, OLG is going to continue to operate somewhere. If Great Canadian Gaming and OLG make a deal, fabulous, they'll remain and it'll be pretty seamless," said Baguley according to an article on Barrie's Rock 95. "But, if OLG and Great Canadian can't come to terms then, I guess, they'll be looking for another location, you know, locally."

In the event that OLG and Great Canadian come to terms, Baguley has received word from GCG officials that Georgian "could still operate" and host live harness racing but "it would not look the same as it did yesterday."

Watch for Godfrey & Tananbuam or even McGuinty & Duncan to throw in and offer (their) space up in downtown Barrie after all white collar crime is what they are good at so why not bring more to downtown Barrie hey maybe they will call this Mayor for directions. We opened the door with the gov't and it had the ability to be a long term relationship that profited everybody can you blame the Liberals for wanting to keep this for their select few.

It is a shame that it has come to this, all this mayor cares about is her million dollars every three months .there are many people that will suffer here. Many people ,have bought farms close to this track and will lose hundreds of thousands if it closes. At the sales i witnessed many of the consignor in tears as their babies sold for nothing. Godfrey, mcginty and duncahn should be investigated and if anything comes out of it, a law suit should be looked into. This is a good race track if run properly and I believe there is a ton of potential here for expanded casino. These race tracks were for horse racing and we let these vultures in and you see what's happening. I,m done..

Perhaps they would propose a nice shiny casino right smack dab in the middle of Barrie. At your expense of course. The Ontario government is dead set on ruining Ontario. The credit people must be frustrated with this bunch. Next time they prorogue parliament their pay cheques should be prorogued also. Just thinking. Bruce T. Winning

No it certainly won't "look the same as it did yesterday". Purses cut... race days cut back. Welcome to Liberal Harness Racing!!
