Second Leg Complete In Australia

The second leg of the World Driving Championship was hosted at Newcastle Harness Racing Club on Sunday evening with three heats.

A win and a second on the evening put Australia's Chris Alford in the lead. Alford scored one for the home team in winning the first WDC heat of the night, teaming up with Better Than Max from post 7 to score a 1:56 effort in the $8,000 event over Tim Tetrick and Kardashiancrusader. Jody Jamieson finished in seventh with Im A Player.

France hit the board with a victory in the second heat as Tony Le Beller scored with The Merchant Banker NZ in a time of 1:56.6 over Chris Alford and Gee Tee Wage in the $8,000 event. Jamieson didn't have much luck as he took eighth place with Lady Ell Aye.

The third heat went to Finland's Mikos Forss who guided Satu NZ to a win in a mile and a quarter event for a purse of $8,000. Time for the race was 2:32.7. That was Forss' second victory in the WDC. Jamieson finished in fifth with Thoriheardulaughn.

Jamieson did manage to score his first win on Australian soil in the evening's first race, a non WDC event, guiding Saint Stormy to a 1:58.5 victory in the $6,120 Wakakulang Pace from outside post 10 to kick off the evening's card.

The third leg of the WDC takes place on Tuesday night at Wagga where seven heats will be contested.
