Millionaire pacing mare Sandbetweenurtoes summoned her back class to turn back her challengers in the stretch for a victory Friday night under the lights at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Sent postward as the 6-5 favourite in the $18,000 seventh race conditioned pace, the 2017 O'Brien Award winner was on her toes leaving the gate into the wind through a :27.4 opening panel. After cruising to the half in :57.2, Sandbetweenurtoes faced pressure in the form of Sporty Tori on the way to three-quarters 1:26.1 while her stablemate Cracklin Rosie loomed along the pylons. However, the leading lady dug in down the stretch to score by two lengths in 1:54. So Long Darling closed from the back, heading Sporty Tori for the runner-up role. Cracklin Rosie inherited third when Sunday Afternoon was set back for a pylon violation.

Richard Moreau trains the nine-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere for owner Brad Grant. The win was her first in four starts this year and 42nd lifetime.

After sweeping the early Daily Double with 24-1 upsetter Balfast N and favourite Speed To Market, Doug McNair worked out the winning trip aboard Sandbetweenurtoes. That victory marked the 50th of the 2020 season for McNair, who leads all drivers at Mohawk Park.
