Schoolkids Delivers In Dover Feature

Schoolkids proved to be the star student in Monday’s $35,000 Open Preferred Handicap at Dover Downs, winning the featured event in an impressive clocking of 1:51.2

Sent off as the 3-2 favourite in the eight-horse affair, Schoolkids got away third for driver Pat Berry while Harlingen Hanover rolled the speedsters to the quarter pole in :27.2. Berry had his charge up and rolling in front of the grandstand, and in a matter of strides Schoolkids motored to the lead. He proceeded to wheel his way through middle panels of :55.4 and 1:24 before sprinting home in :27.2 and drawing away to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Harlingen Hanover in 1:51.2. Frog Juice, who came first over, settled for third prize.

Nicholas Surick trains the five-year-old son of I Am A Fool-Game Bunny for the KDM Stables Corp of Farmingdale, MI. It was the third victory of the season in eight tries for the career winner of $673,407.
