Lucky No. Seven For Ramegade Bruiser

Using his typical front-end tactics, Ramegade Bruiser exhibited a repeat performance of his past six Open Pace triumphs on Saturday night at Woodbine Racetrack

Driver Randy Waples was reunited with Ramegade Bruiser for his seventh consecutive win in the featured $50,000 event. The six-year-old gelded son of Rambaran led the way to the first quarter in :26.2, then pulled away by over two lengths en route to the half in :55.2. Following in second, O’Brien Award winner Secrets Nephew (Lyle MacArthur) briefly closed the gap as the field moved past three-quarters in 1:23.3, but Ramegade Bruiser pressed on down the lane stopping the clock in 1:51.

Secrets Nephew finished one length back in second and Action Figure (Paul MacDonell) was third.

Owned and trained by David Brown, Ramegade Bruiser is now five-for-five this year with $125,000 earned. The bay’s 36th career win lifted his bankroll to $756,739.

In the $35,000 Open Pace for four-year-olds, The Admiral scored for the first time this year for trainer Marie St. Charles and LRL Racing LLC of Grosse Ile, Michigan.

Using come from behind tactics, Mark MacDonald settled The Admiral in fifth as My Masterpiece (Jack Moiseyev) led the field to the first quarter in :25.4. From there Anderlecht (Mike Saftic) brushed up from third and hit the half in :55.2. Following that one’s cover, Livefreeordiehard (Sylvain Filion) moved into command before three-quarters in 1:29.1 and pulled away by two lengths as The Admiral advanced from second-over. Using a strong stretch kick, The Admiral coasted to victory in 1:52.1 holding off the quick-closing Beach Boy Toy (Rick Zeron). My Masterpiece finished third.

In five starts this year, the Admirals Galley gelding has recorded one win, three seconds and a third good for nearly $50,000 in earnings. The Admiral’s 13th lifetime score pushed his bankroll over the $200,000 mark.
