A trio of Gerry Hudon trainees dominated the $15,000 Open Pace at Northlands Park on Saturday with last year's Mr Vancouver winner, Kiawah taking center stage in his seasonal debut

Stablemate Tyber King (Gerry Hudon) fought for the early lead reaching the front after the first quarter in :27.3 while Kiawah sat in fifth. With Bill Davis at the lines, the five-year-old son of Western Ideal – Beach Binge made his move en route to the half mile marker in :58.1 going first over and taking the lead within a blink of an eye. That one opened up by five lengths as he blasted past three-quarters in 1:25.2. With his sights set on the wire, Kiawah kept on going eventually stopping the clock in 1:53.4 with almost eight lengths on the field.
Entrymates Timberline Court (John Baxter) and Tyber King finished second and third.
Kiawah scored his 11th lifetime win and pushed his earnings to $108,043 for co-owners Bill Boden of Vancouver and Monica Hudon of Edmonton, Alta.
