Borth came first over on the way to the half with Sea Laird, and the gelding toughed it out to win by a length in 1:56.1 over YS Delight. Race favourite Ideal Perception took home the show dough in the six-horse tilt.
Sent off at 9-2, Sea Laird improved is now two-for-five in 2023 for Stacey Smith Robinson of South Mountain, Ont. The 25-time winner recently surpassed $200,000 in career earnings.
