Lady London Repeats; Daigneault Triples

On the heels of a front-stepping score in last week’s feature for females at Flamboro Downs, Lady London returned to the half-mile oval and used come-from-behind tactics to capture another edition of the $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Handicap.

Lady London, who was assigned the outside in post in the seven-mare affair, got away last for driver Billy Davis, Jr. while race favourite Tables Big Secret rolled the field through fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.3.

Buttermilk Hanover came first-over on the way to the half, and she was lapped on the leader as the group headed into the final quarter of the contest. Lady London moved up on Buttermilk Hanover’s cover, and when Davis flipped off cover Lady London responded by finishing her mile with a :28.2 closing panel. It was enough to earn her the half-length decision over Outlaw Imahotvixen in 1:55.2. Tables Big Secret was third.

Sabrina Shaw trains the seven-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Maddam Luck for VHF Racing LLC of Rochester Hills, MI. The 24-time winner has racked up a 2-0-1 record in her first three starts of the season while pushing her lifetime earnings over $165,000.

Trainer Dave Daigneault had a profitable night at the office thanks to the three wins he generated from the three starters he sent out on the 10-race card.

Daigneault got the ball rolling in Race 2 with Black Elektra, who was a gate-to-wire winner in 1:59.1 for driver Brett MacDonald. That one’s stablemate, Lo Hold A Moonbean, also went coast-to-coast in Race 3 for driver Colin Kelly. The seven-year-old daughter of Moon Beam was a two-length winner in 1:58.1.

The hat trick was completed by Daigneault when Silverhill Misty rallied to a 1:58.1 score in Race 6 for driver Paul MacKenzie.

To date, Daigneault has celebrated 334 training wins while racking up more than $2.3 million in purse earnings.
