In a perfect world, you don’t expect to see anything out of the ordinary when you look out the window and keep an eye on your horses. It’s safe to say that an unexpected plane in the paddock could be classified as out of the ordinary.
That’s exactly what a group of Down Under horsepeople saw earlier this month when a small plane made an emergency landing at Stonewall Stud in South Auckland.
According to an article by stuff.co.nz, no horses were injured in the unusual episode – the plane made the emergency landing in a hay paddock while the horses were in another paddock over.
Stonewall Stud’ co-owner Jill Stockman was quoted as saying, "It's taken out a couple of wire fences and dragged them through the paddock."

Stockman explained that she was alerted to the situation after her horses let her know.
"There was a big noise, but I didn't worry too much about it,” she said. "Then the mares and foals started tearing around the paddock and snorting, so I thought I better go and see what was upsetting them."
It was at that point that Stockman saw the plane.
"Two guys got out and walked away from it and then the police, fire and ambulances all rolled up soon after."
A previous report on the situation stated that the occupants of the plane exited the craft without any apparent injuries.
