The betting public at Dover Downs didn’t show a whole lot of love to Feel Like A Fool in Thursday’s $27,500 Delaware Special, but the Robert Clark trainee didn’t let that keep him from finding his way to the winner’s circle in the featured tilt.
George Dennis manufactured the winning trip for Feel Like A Fool, who sat last for the first half of the contest. Mustang Art, in the meantime, led the field through early panels of :26 and :54.1. He also chopped out the three-quarter call n 1:22.3, but the backfield was starting to come to life. Feel Like A Fool was tracking cover while sitting fifth on the outside, but his :27.4 closing quarter enabled him to win by a length over People Are Crazy in 1:51. Mustang Art faded to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 8-1, Feel Like A Fool won for the first time in seven starts this season. Kovach Stables LLC of Milford, Delaware owns the six-year-old son of Art Major-Fool That I Am who pushed his career earnings to $996,708.
