Front-Stepper Lickcreek Jazzy Wins Open

Lickcreek Jazzy went wire-to-wire and tied her lifetime mark of 1:53.4 on Saturday night at Fraser Downs in the $13,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace

Lickcreek Jazzy overcame an outside Post 7 start and settled on top with Michael Hennessy in the bike for trainer Ed Hensley, who shares ownership with the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. The six-year-old daughter of Hi Ho Silverheels – Lick Creek Rose carved out stations of :27.3, :57.3 and 1:25.2 en route to a one length victory while Greek Beach (Scott Knight) was unable to reach the leader with her first over bid and faded to last.

Miss Valentine winner Lady And Thetrench (Tim Brown) finished second off a pocket trip while Lickcreek Jazzy’s stablemate, Modern Legacy (Hensley), rallied from the backfield for third.

Lickcreek Jazzy, a winner of $18,460 this year, is now two-for-five and has yet to finish out of the money. The winner of 17 races lifetime boasts $208,902 in earnings.
