Several big names from the Alberta harness racing industry have been surfacing at Fraser Downs Racetrack in recent weeks
.
With the season winding down in Alberta horsemen like Keith Clark and Rene Goulet have been shipping horses to the Surrey, BC oval.
“We encourage their arrivals,” Jackson Wittup, director of Racing for Fraser Downs, was quoted as saying. “If there is any downside at all, it would be trying to find stalls to accommodate them.”
Clark has shipped six horses to Fraser Downs and will be on hand to drive them this weekend. He has nominated three of his horses for the first leg of the Princess of the Pacific on February 28. The $100,000 final is set for March 14.
A stable of 12 has also arrived from the Goulet camp and two of them will also be competing this weekend. Jeff Stone and Rod Hennessy were at Fraser Downs last weekend with Hennessy driving Kg Mist to victory in the Mares Open to inspire speculation for a return in the Princess of the Pacific.
