Tajma Hall To Be Retired?

Horse Racing Alberta has reported that Tajma Hall, Alberta's reigning Horse of the Year, will likely miss the rest of the Northlands Park winter meet. Also, his future racing career is up in the air

.

The 11-year-old pacer has been out of action since winning the Northlands open class on February 7, the same day he was given his award.

"He got sick after the last win. We thought it was strangles, but it is not now," said trainer/driver J.F. Gagne. "He's never been sick since I have got him (eight years ago). Maybe one time I had to scratch because (he was sick)."

With the Northlands Park winter harness meet ending on February 28, Tajma Hall will likely miss the last Edmonton cards before thoroughbred training begins in March. From there, the pacer's racing options are unknown.

When asked if Tajma Hall will be retired, Gagne replied, "Don't know. We are going to have a meeting with the owners (in the spring)."

The Kentucky-bred son of Cambest has $764,245 in career earnings after being a $23,000 yearling purchase.

Gagne stated today he wouldn't take Tajma Hall to Lacombe -- an untested racetrack -- if there was a short spring campaign.
