Saturday evening was one of those nights where driver Jody Jamieson could do little wrong at Woodbine Racetrack.
Everything he touched seemed to turn to gold including The Rev. All he did was turn in a front-stepping score in the $34,000 Preferred for pacers.
Jamieson, who earlier notched wins with Xternal (1:54.2 – Race 3), Major Hill (1:51.2 – Race 5), Exhilarated (1:53.2 – Race 6) and Big Yellow (1:52.4 – Race 8), rolled the Gregg McNair trainee through fractions of :26.2, :55.3 and 1:22.4 before using a :28.1 closing panel to post the win by 1-3/4 lengths over race favourite Nirvana Seelster in 1:51. Taking home third prize was Traceur Hanover.
It was the third straight score for the eight-year-old son of Western Paradise-Red Sea, who is owned by Jeffrey Skinner of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. The 33-time winner, who is just shy of $500,000 in career earnings, improved this year’s record to 3-0-0 from four starts with the victory.
As for Jamieson, he’s put together a 29-win season thus far in 2018. The career winner of 7,648 races has racked up purse earnings in excess of $122 million to this point in his career.
