Major League N circled the bases at Woodbine Mohawk Park for a 1:53.1 victory in Friday's feature, a $26,000 high-end fillies and mares pace.
Owned by driver Ed Hensley and trainer Ashleigh Hensley, Major League N made the rounds, hitting the quarter marks in :28, :56.3 and 1:24.4 while keeping the first-up favourite Better Be Donna N at bay as she turned for home. The veteran mare then held off a wall of closers for the one-length victory, with the pylon-skimming Ahoy (Doug McNair) winning the five-across race for place as that one edged out a from-last Lock Bridge (Sylvain Filion), Sporty Tori (Bob McClure), Parisian Blue Chip (James MacDonald) and Better Be Donna N (Jonathan Drury).
Stepping up in class off a nose defeat last week at Mohawk, Major League N returned $12.10 for the mild 5-1 upset.
A two-time Preferred winner this year at The Raceway at Western Fair District, she is now three-for-six with $36,000 in seasonal earnings. The 10-year-old Gotta Go Cullen mare notched her 29th career win and boosted her bankroll to $281,368.
