In stark contrast to what is currently going on in the province of Ontario, the state of New York, Ontario's direct neighbour, is figuratively going to the highest points it can find to trumpet the fact that racinos located within its borders have become cash cows for the state
.
In a story bearing the headline 'Racino $2B Sure Thing,' The New York Post has run an article explaining that 'New York has hit the jackpot with the stream of cash rolling in from the state’s nine racinos.'
The article explains that, not including revenue from upstate tribal casinos, the state's racino operation generated roughly $2 billion in economic activity in 2011 and pumped $1 billion in revenues into the state’s coffers, including $830 million for education.
