Lexus Markus held off the sustained challenge of Gold Stones to capture Thursday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $15,400 conditioned trot.
Ronnie Wrenn and Lexus Markus worked out a :30.3 second panel on top, a breather that served the six-year-old Amigo Hall-Lexus Helios gelding well when he was confronted by the determined Gold Stones. Lexus Markus edged the challenger by a nose in 1:55.2 over a sloppy surface while Fawn De Touch rallied for show.
Ron Burke trains Lexus Markus, who now boasts a career bankroll of $167,158, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The win was one of four for Wrenn on the 13-race card and part of a pair for Burke.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Friday when the 13-race program kicks off at 12:45 p.m.
