The price was microscopic but the effort was huge for Bourbon Bay in Monday evening’s $50,800 final of the General Brock Series at Woodbine Racetrack.

Mike Saftic opted to put the pedal to the metal with Bourbon Bay, who shot to the top from Post 1 and carved out solid splits of :27, :56.1 and 1:26. A :29.1 closing quarter was more than enough for the Mike Sinclair trainee to post the victory in 1:55.1. It was 4-1/2 lengths back to runner-up Bags For All, with Meadowview Vicky a rallying third.

The four-year-old son of Sand Vic-America Alive races under lease to John Cummings, Jr. of Nichols, New York. It was the fourth win of the year in six attempts for the gelding who lifted his lifetime earnings to $75,901 with the win.
