Winning races on half-mile tracks is something that XLB Patrick has mastered throughout his career, and fans at Western Fair Raceway could back up

that statement.

The nine-year-old son of Davids Pass has found his way to victory lane 54 times in his career, with the majority of those wins taken when traveling around four turns.

With Doug McNair at the controls, XLB Patrick managed to rally to a 1:57 score in Monday’s $18,400 Preferred Pace at Western Fair Raceway en route to defeating Oakley Seelster and even-money favourite Tigerama.

Despite his half-mile track prowess, the Mark Austin trainee was served up as an attractive 6-1 price in the eight-horse affair.

Mike Cecile of Windsor, ON holds the papers on the gelding, who has banked $585,331 to date.

Call Me Yours turned a second-over trip into a narrow score in the $15,200 Fillies & Mares Preferred for trainer Steve Coulter and driver Dave Wall. The four-year-old daughter of Your Nemesis stopped the clock in 1:56 for the nose decision.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, Call Me Yours got up in the final strides to defeat pacesetter Dangerous Years. Lady Mach, who was asked to do the first over work, finished third.

Bred and owned by Steven Gillard of Tavistock, ON, the mare picked up her 11th lifetime win while pushing her lifetime earnings to $159,880.

Three Cents pulled off the biggest upset in today’s Preferred events thanks to his 1:56.4 score in Monday’s $12,800 Preferred 2 Pace for the duo of trainer Kim Bakker and driver Mike Langdon.

The five-year-old Mach Three gelding parlayed a pocket trip into a two-length triumph over race favourite Tymal Cameron and Risky Rich.

Sent off as a 13-1 outsider, Three Cents pushed his earnings to $95,440 with the win for the partnership of Frank Baker Jr. of Thamesford and Wray Wilson of Thorndale, ON.
