It has been reported that a slightly updated version of Illinois State Senator Terry Link's gaming expansion bill is currently in committee with the intention of it being fast-tracked to the Senate floor with a new sponsor

.

The news comes according to an article by the Thoroughbred Times which quotes Senator Link as saying that he hopes the bill will be on the governor's desk in either late March or early April.

In addition to the erection of new casinos, an aspect of the bill would see slot machines be installed in state racetracks, both standardbred and thoroughbred.

“It’s pretty much the same bill (as the one the Senate passed in December)," Link was quoted as saying. "We’re tweaking it to try to get more of a consensus. We’ll try to work with the (ten) existing casinos and make sure we can answer some of their problems and get them on board this time."
