Retromedia Publishing is proud to announce that on Tuesday, February 16 in Summerside, at the Eptek Art & Culture Centre, a provincial Heritage Award of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation will be presented to Paul Murphy, author of Behind the Gate
.
The book, a historical gem, covers the period from the early 1900s to present times. It features the life stories and achievements of a cross-section of harness racing heroes from P.E.I. and the other Atlantic provinces.
Some of those profiled in the book include Harness Racing Hall of Famer Wally Hennessey of P.E.I., talented reinsman Gilles Barrieau of New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia’s and Canada’s most accomplished female driver, Clare MacDonald.
The book, now in its third printing, continues to sell well. After only 14 months, it has reached best seller status on P.E.I. and is approaching the same for Atlantic Canada.
Behind the Gate is available at Indigo, Chapters, Coles and BookMark bookstores in Canada, and online at www.retromedia.ca and at www.chapters.indigo.ca.
