The star of trotting in Europe continues to be Bold Eagle, impressive again in victory on Sunday in the 2016 Prix de France at Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes.

The 2016 Prix d'Amerique winner, Bold Eagle and driver Franck Nivard were not handed his next stakes win on a silver platter. The five-year-old superstar had to earn every bit of his €180,000 payday by trotting three-wide for the first half of the 1-5/16th mile event. Then he was stride for stride with pacesetter Timoko (Bjorn Goop) before pulling away in deep stretch for the three-quarter length decision. ‎ Voltigeur de Myrt (Gabriele Gelormini) finished third.

Trained by Sébastien Guarato, Bold Eagle now sports a lifetime summary of 22 wins from 25 starts. His next start could come later this month in the 2 1/2 mile Prix de Paris. If he does and wins that race, he'll be the first horse to win the Prix d'Amerique, the Prix de France and the Prix de Paris in nearly 40 years.
