There was no love for some of the trainers and drivers in the first race on the Valentine's Day card of harness racing at Northlands Park as multiple horses and drivers were involved in a first-turn spill
.
As the field approached the quarter pole, the pace slowed and the participants got jammed up. Last Chance Buddy (Don Monkman) went offstride and started a chain reaction that took out Scruffy Knickers (Ron Graham) and Streak N Win (Phil Giesbrecht).
Trot Insider has learned that Ron Graham suffered a broken elbow in the accident and could miss around six weeks of action. Reports from Northlands indicate that the horses are fine and the other drivers walked off under their own power.
