Double Dippin won his third straight start with an authoritative front-end performance in the featured $11,000 optional-claiming trot on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Flamboro Downs.
The gelding marched three-deep into the first turn and pushed past the two-wide Tregaron (Scott Young) to take control over Seeking Salvation (John Thomson) nearing the quarter in :28.1. He was never threatened in his route to victory, rattling off :59.2 and 1:28.3 fractions before cruising home under mild encouragement from Brett MacDonald to win by two lengths in 1:58. No One (Austin Sorrie) kicked past Seeking Salvation in the stretch for second.
Double Dippin is three-for-five this season for owner-trainer Sara Baillargeon of Guelph, Ont. and is riding a three-race win streak that began on Jan. 16 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The six-year-old Walner-Borrow And Spend gelding has racked up 10 wins and $131,633 in earnings in 72 lifetime appearances. He paid $2.90 to win.
